Arrived by airport via Adam Air but there did not seem to be a cheap bus into the city. Had to take the Taxi. Went to the equator monument which I liked a lot.

Very nice town with famous church. Recommended.

Kuching is a relaxed place by Asia’s standards. All your creature comforts can be had here. Travellers like Kuching many stay for a long time relaxing before their next mad adventure.

I was supprised just how cheap the city was.

To visit the area you can make it by Bus but return early because you can easy miss the last minibus. You end up on the coconut lorries like the one above. Taking a ride on one of these is really good fun though.

This area has many shanti buildings and coastal dwellings on stilts. The area may be best to visit with locals because it may be unsafe to travel alone.
Some impressive fishing boats can be seen around the coast and Dao Dao Island resort.

During the war I was present when Macedonia declared independance – a country was born!

This city can be reached by road that runs along a hill above the city. You get a dramatic entrance down the street from the bus terminal, you enter the busy city where few foriegners are seen. Food is cheap by Philippines standards and accomodation can be very cheap if you shop around. Napsally’s is in main street and is one of the cheapest. Someone was shot dead while I was staying so be aware of this element, but it is still a rear event.

Beatles connection with Weybridge, Gerald Winstanley had a commune in the 17th centry. One of Britian’s oldest canals can be visited, the Wey Navigation. The River Thames has a 1000 year old wear near the town centre. Good Rail links. Brooklands Museum is the birthplace of the British aeroplane industry and motorcar racing.
