and even though the Great Highway is one-lane each way (which forces you to enjoy the scenery at a slower pace than usual) I’d go back in a heartbeat!

and c’mon how can you NOT want to visit a state with the quote “Live Free or Die” on its license plates? I like that attitude!

is reason enough to visit the state! One of the world’s great cities…

Boston’s a great city which one could spend a lot of time in and not get bored. Travelling along the state outside the city though and it seems to me that Mass. is the heart of New England with its preservation of the typical “New England architecture” usually consisting of red-brick houses. It has a lot of charm and I’d go back again to soak it up more…

I drove through (and therefore my review shouldn’t be weighted as much as someone who’s lived there, but…) and I really wasn’t impressed unfortunately. We ended up staying at a motel off of the interstate for the night that seemed to have some serious air pollution going on. I’ve heard others nickname Jersey, “The armpit of America” and well, I’d have to agree. :) Too much pollution (not just of the air that night, but along the interstates) and not enough natural areas. Seems like this state might be abit overpopulated (or perhaps they don’t place a high priority on nature along the interstate?), but then again maybe it was just all bad timing on my part. Still, I can’t give a favorable rating on what I did see…. :(

Unfortunately I blinked and missed most of it though. Maybe I shouldn’t have been driving so fast… :)

It’s all about the Ben & Jerry’s factory! As close to a real-life Willy Wonka factory as you’re ever going to see. Really, really cool. :)

Vermont’s absolutely beautiful too, but it’s all secondary to the mecca of ice cream…

since I didn’t spend much/any time in either Pittsburgh or Philadelphia, but I thought the parts which I drove through were very picturesque with friendly people in all the places I stopped. Perhaps I picked the best road less travelled? :)

the South! Virginia just below is definitely the South. It’s interesting to feel such a big difference between places when there are only a few miles seperating them. That’s what I felt though when going north to south on the road. Enjoy the diversity while you can! :)
