Much like Chicago, but done Canadian-style…

My uncle and aunt and cousins had a cottage up here that they stayed at for the summer. We used to visit at least once a year as a kid. The beaches were great and the downtown area was pretty hopping as I got older. Fun little touristy place in the summer and dead in the winter.

And don’t come out for a week. Get away from cell phones, computers, cars, electricity and just listen to the quiet. You might not see a single soul for a couple days… except maybe the occasional moose (if you’re lucky) or bear (if you’re unlucky)

If you have kids, you have to make the journey at some point. It’s well worth it

Take in a coffee shop, a book store…

Get back to nature

Check out a winery tour (we went to Benziger’s with cool under-hill caves) and do a lunch (we went to The Fig Cafe). Make sure you taste some vintages!

Those are some pretty big trees… and the scenery is just breathtaking…

We enjoyed Scruffy Murphy’s for a drink and Il Postale for dinner…

You can stay here cheap, it’s got a decent downtown, but make sure you visit the rest of the Bay Area…

We did enjoy the Ames Research Facility though…
