...was for my 33 birthday in January. Wow, people had talked the city up so much I wondered if I set my expectations too high. Not at all- beautiful, easily accessible, friendly and the architecture so unique. I definitely want to go back in the warmer months and even have a pie in the sky idea of taking some Spanish. Entire new doors would open that way, plus I love the idea of speaking another language beyond English and French.

Cool architecture, tasty beers, nice cafes and I hear there’s a cool bridge and castle to be seen. Cannot wait to go there in a week!!!

I learned that Greek drivers are even more insane than Italian or African bush drivers- oil tankers passing on blind curves on mountain road and passing multiple cars at once. It was fun tho- great excuse to drive like a whacko and not even stick out!

It dumped 20 inches of snow (after hardly in Europe at all this season) on my birthday. Made for a wonderful white birthday with some sweet powder riding.

Only regret is I got serious altitude sickness when we took the tram up to Cervina, so I didn’t get to board the Italian side. They say it can hit you once and then never again, or now and then, or sometimes all the time- so hopefully next time I’m up that high I won’t feel like I’m going to hurl and pass out. :>

I can only imagine how amazing this place is when it’s snowing day after day after day. Ah, I hope to go back!

J’ai bu mon premiere vin chaud de ma vie ici. Il faisait tres beau- du soleil, pas trop froid de bavarder avec mes amis et regarder des montagnes. Formidable! La prochain fois, j’espere snowboarder.

le marais is one of my most favorite places on earth. i feel alive, beautiful and content just being there- in the parks, walking the streets, having a drink here or there or wherever. i wish i lived there- one day. it’s a dream but for now, the memories sustain me and propel me forward to visit and hopefully hang my hat there one day.

why people say it’s underwhelming. but be prepared to be disappointed.

the only microbrewery in ireland- fresh amazing beer and surprisingly, wine selection. if you go when they have the chocolate truffle stout, get it. in my top five beers i’ve had anywhere in my life!

the food is outstanding or as they say here in ireland, gorgeous. the service is a bit spotty but they’ve got great wines, good starters, amazing main courses and even their dessert is good- but not as good as their main food.

live jazz music in the basement on thursday nights. never been but hoping to make it one of these days!
