The first weekend I lived in Ecuador happened to Carnaval (a.k.a. Mardis Gras) In Ecuador they celebrate by throwing water at strangers (via balloons, buckets, waterguns) and roasting pigs. I went out with an Ecuadorian family, and when the pig was almost done, they cut off its ears and placed them on my head as a sort of crown for the gringa.
