Leaving the frozen tundra that was NW Texas in January, my place of employment sent me to my personal Southern California mecca. It was like I had somehow traveled to a warmer future that had a beach, or several. It was much more beautiful than I remembered. The water so much clearer, but of course, everything is clearer when the last beach you visited was in Galveston. (Not that it isn’t without it’s own charms, but that is another story). We didn’t have much time so we hit up any beach we could find, including the point loma area, ocean beach, and some residential beach out in an upscale (to me) neighborhood, among others. Being work related, we didn’t get to see as much as we would have liked, but it was still an awesome trip. We tried Hob Nob Hill, which was old-school and awesome. There was a diverse crowd milling about outside: elderly people in their sunday finest, families with young children, surfers, skateboarders, and anyone else. The line was long, the food was awesome. Think a slightly upper-crust Denny’s, but with good food. Afterwards we drove through Balboa Park, we wanted to go in but we only had so much free time. It was an awesome trip, I want to go back desperately. Maybe we will soon.
