I moved to the Harrisburg area a little over a year ago so I’m still trying to find my way around sometimes. One thing we had plenty of when I lived in South Carolina was wing joints. My friends and I had several places we used to eat at a lot. Up here, good places to eat buffalo wings are few and far between.

Today, I found the most awesome wing place I’ve ever eaten at in Pennsylvania. It’s called Arooga’s. They have over 30 different wing sauces. Everything from the standard mild, medium, hot and instant death to more exotic flavors like Red Thai and General Tso’s.

I didn’t think my stomach could take Hot today, so I ordered Medium. Those big juicy meaty wings were had plenty of spicy goodness. The were served over a basketful of what appeared to be fresh cut fries.

Since I was eating alone, I appreciated the fact they had a small TV at every table that you could tune to your favorite channe. Best lunch I’ve had in a long time!

Our waitress was complaining, “They normally have three girls working this section, but I’m the only one working it tonight.” It was a lousy excuse, she was just slow and inattentive.

The food is decent, but expensive. I think I paid 2 bucks more than I should have for my steak sandwich.

Even though it’s close to my house, I won’t eat there again any time soon. Better to go on down the Pike and eat at the Middlesex diner.

The Pioneer Tunnel is a wonderful place to visit if you want to learn about the history of anthracite coal mining in Pennsylvania. We didn’t go down into the coal mine because I’m claustrophobic.

We did take a trip on the steam locomotive, the Henry Clay. At one time it was actually used to haul coal out of the underground and strip mines in the area. The passenger cars are converted coal cars. Along the way the engineer and the conductor tell you some of the history of the area. I learned about bootleg mining, something I had never heard of before. If you’re going to visit, you might want to look at the Pioneer Tunnel web site first.

This is not the same Hershey Park I went to when I was a child. I took my children to Hershey Park last weekend hoping it would be just as magical for them as it was when I went there 30 years ago. It wasn’t.

The Park has lost a lot of its charm. It was overcrowded in terms of people and the number of new attractions they’ve tried to pack into the small space. Their new Boardwalk area was too small and way too many people were trying to find a place to relax on the fake beach.

We won’t be going back any time soon, even though we live 35 minutes away.

Will Chris Sligh make it big? The Greenville resident and Handlebar regular auditioned for American Idol and he’s made it into the top 24. I’ll be voting for him on Tuesday, will you?

I visited Chocolate World years ago with my parents. I remember how cool it was to learn how they made chocolate.

I had a chance to take my wife and children here recently. The chocolate making tour is basically the same, but they’ve remodeled and added additional things. We also saw a 3-D movie about the history of chocolate. It was as good as any of the 3-D movies I saw at Disney World. It includes chocolate smells, breezes and water droplets.

Greenville, SC is a growing town. We just built a new downtown ballpark for the “Greenville Drive.” (Stupid name for a baseball team, they should have stuck with the “Bombers.”)

The Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC just got 10 new Gentoo Penguins. Did you know Gentoo Penguins are the fastest penguins in the world? They can swim at up to 20 miles per hour. We don’t have any still pictures of the Gentoo Penguins (they move too fast.) You can see a video here .

Everybody talks abouit the Louvre, but El Prado is a sensational art museum that everybody overlooks. If you go, you must see La Guernica painted during WWII by Picasso.
