Lived on a ship traveling between the ABC islands. God, I was tan back then!

Blew in from a 150mph wind storm on the way back down from the north pole. Almost got blown overboard 100 miles off shore. I was happy to set foot on land. Enjoyed some musk ox jerky.

One of the most memorable cities in all my European travels!

Tallinn was absolutely amazing! I got to see a lot of the city thanks to an ex-general friend of mine. What a treat!

When I went to Albania (1992) there were still thousands of cement bunkers (bomb shelters) peppered across the countryside and all over the beaches. It was one of the strangest things I’ve ever seen. Flying into the capitol city’s airport, we had to buzz the runway twice to get the sheep off the runway! No phones in the airport terminal. No electricity in the hotel at night. No toilets in many of the restaurants (they did, however, have old Soviet style latrines – a ‘restroom’ with a hole in the floor and a bucket of lye for the smell).

The people were awesome – very friendly, very honest, very courteous, etc. The food was great, too.

All in all, I had a great time. I’m hoping things have been modernized since I was there.

... before the recent eruptions, of course. There are miles of cavernous lava tubes under the mountain. The whole state park is filled with amazing sights, great hiking and plenty of photo ops.

24 hours of daylight! What a blast! Golf on an ice shelf, a quick swim in the arctic, hiking, storms, etc!

I love Lake O! I’ve been here for 15+ years. It’s the best place I’ve ever lived.
