Asia Cafe

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Students and Food Stalls Galore

This is a major hangout for college students in the SS15 area. You can find almost any kind of food here, from japanese to western. The food is averagely so-so, but you can find some really great food here, if you keep sampling the wide variety of stalls. Some stalls open only in the daytime to capitalize on the students, while some open only at night.

The drinks are a tad expensive, but they’ve got a wide range of drinks, and I think they don’t serve alcohol.

MBK Mall

taken from a random bangkok website

“This is a very popular shopping mall for locals. Located just across from Siam Square, it is most popular with the younger set, lots of trendy school girls here every evening.
Plenty of restaurants and all manner of goods from cars to furniture. If you are looking for electronic goods such as Mini-Disc and CD walkmen, this is the place. All the goods of this nature are smuggled in and do not have VAT and local tax making MBK by far the cheapest place for Panasonic, Sony, Aiwa, etc.
A good selection of copied video CDs, DVDs, and the premier place for PlayStation game copies from below 40 Baht each.
IT Centre on the 4th. floor is the best place for MP3 music, and DVD copies.
MBK is also THE place for anything related to mobile phones. The ground floor has a lot of fake designer goods and clothes at prices you won’t see from street traders. MBK is well worth a look if you can stand the pace!”

Pratunam Market

taken from a random Bangkok website

“Pratunam Market is the largest clothing market in Bangkok. If they don’t have what you are looking for, it is not available in Bangkok! That is, you will not find fashion clothing there. Go to large shopping centers and department stores for that. For all the rest (particularly your summer clothing) go to Pratunam market for a one-stop clothing ‘update’.”

The Dome At State Tower

taken from the About page

“Being atop one of the tallest skyscrapers in Thailand makes us easy to find. However, the Dome was never intended as an ivory tower or a one-note attraction. Too often, it seems that dining and entertainment venues forge their identities out of a single attraction; the result being a tourist magnet that is worth one snapshot, but never a return visit. That, quite simply, is not who we are.

The Dome is a venue for all with a passion for unembellished quality. Our motto of providing rare, simple elegance means nothing more than recognizing that good food comes from good ingredients, and that a truly authentic atmosphere comes from creating an organic environment. Bringing them together requires work, of course, but the difference is one that our guests can always sense what we are all about, even if they cannot quite describe it.”

Battenfeld is a men’s scholarship hall at the University of Kansas. It has about 50 men, and sort of runs like a frat, but isn’t one.

Lawrence

Worth visiting!

i went to college here

Lawrence, KS is a wonderful town. I still remember when I was deciding on a college, and where to go, and I read about Lawrence and was attracted to the place. I was there a total of four years, and I’ve been to places like Manhattan KS, Columbia MO, St. Louis MO, Chicago, the Bay Area CA, parts of the east coast, NYC… but I guess for me, Lawrence was home away from home.
