Ikea, Atlantic Station

It was the most popular NKOTB ever.

Just wanted to remind all of ya’ll (for the sake of posterity) of our Ikea’s opening week/month. It was IT. It was all people were talking about before it opened, it was the only place people were going the day it opened, it was the only place people were more than happy to wait in hour-long lines and inch out of the parking lot one by one.

And it’s still being sung on the lips of every ordinary citizen.

It was the number one cause of low church attendance that Sunday. Far worse than the Super Bowl. And for good reason! Atlanta Hearts Ikea!

Now just wait until Trader Joe’s finally opens ITP…

New Orleans, Orleans Parish

I wanted to make a distinct page for the city as it was before Katrina. We all know that although in many ways it’s the same city, in many ways it isn’t the same city any more, but deserves to be remembered that way.

I’d love to see more people add this and contribute entries about their memories…as well as photos.

(I think this listing got removed the first time I added it—but hopefully it won’t happen again…after all, there’s a page for the WTC as it was, and I’m sure no one’s going to take that down! Still, I could be being paranoid; no one took down my Garden of Eden page. :)

I originally started my own listing under “New Orleans As It Was” but I guess the administrators changed it for me, thinking it would be better for me to live in the present.

But come on, why can there be a page devoted to N.O. as it was before Katrina? In many ways it’s the same city, but in many ways it’s not.
