Station

Not worth visiting!

blah

expensive and boring
chalkboard tables and the wide open doors are cool, but not enough to make up for ok overpriced food and drink. almost everything is $9, i might love this place if they just admit it and call themselves NINE DOLLARS instead, and balance it out with stuff worth more than 9$ rather than only serving things worth less. that would be rad.

The Old Pequliar

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

Trivia night is tuesday 8pm / $5 team, drink/food specials during. Prizes are a pitcher of beer, some liquor/beer promo junk, and some cash. questions were ok, not the funnest.

Maneki

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

I got one of the boxes, which is a big dinner, unless you’re some massive dude it will probably suffice. The side sushi that came with the box was good stuff, and the eel (true test) was great. The only thing that was disappointing was the sauces, there was nothing on the tataki, which at other places i’ve had with an amazing citrus-ginger-sesame sauce, and the pieces were big pretty cuts with really nice seared outside and soft raw inside. Here the tataki was more like a mound of tartare on top of a pile of ginger… The tempura was good. sunomuno also had no real dressing taste to speak of. the salad dressing was good through. house sake was not thrilling, but ok. I would go back for sure to check out some of the stuff i saw on the menu that I haven’t seen other places.

I sort of grew up here (many weekends, summer time). Its a beautiful place, gorgeous beach surrounding a woody plateau on three sides, its amazing to be a child there. Being a teenager…. there’s not much to do besides drink/other junk. There’s nothing much for tourists in town (a few restaurants) but if you can find agate beach, you’ll probably have it almost entirely to yourself.

Duke's Chowder House

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

Happy hours are 3-6pm and 10-2am every day. If you’ve got a modest appetite like me, a cup of chowder and a starter salad with the warm sourdough you get will be more than filling. Drinks seem pretty good, but maybe don’t ask for anything unusual… we ordered a negroni and got a martini (as an honest effort from the bartender). It was really pleasant sitting outside late on a warm evening, we walked around the lake afterward too. Oh, and unless you’re in the market for chowder (there are several kinds) its going to be fairly expensive.

Stupid Prices

Not worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

This place is really and truly retarded. There is nothing worth buying, and the “stupid prices” scheme is that everything is totally overpriced and you have to know what percentage discount applies to the color of the tag on each item (information that they bombard you with as you walk through the door). They must have some stupid customers though, because they have EXPANDED with a new furniture annex next door.

Shakespeare & Co Bookshop

Worth visiting!

I stayed here with my dad for a while when i was 8 (they rent/rented rooms upstairs). I remember the guy who ran it just seemed amazing, he had this wonderful study upstairs with books covering every bit of wall. The place is probably little in reality, but it seemed big to me considering the way he traveled over it and did whatever he did all day long. He told me he could tell books by their smell, and how it was helpful since his eyesight was failing… There was also an english girl staying there who used to keep me around while the french boys fawned over her and giggle at my inappropriate comments. It was a lot of fun.
