there is a possiblity i could go here this year. one of my closest friends is panamanian, and her father is moving back. she’s hoping to visit and asked if i would tag along. of course!

i’m hoping to go here for a weekend sometime by the end of the year. we’ll see if that happens, though. tickets look a bit $$, but i should have a better job soon, so i’m hoping i can go! i just want to swim and eat the whole time. get a nice tan, maybe. god, i’m so lazy.

wow. i can’t believe i can say this now, but i got back two weeks ago. so fascinating. so unreal. i still can’t believe i saw everything i did. the tombs. abu simbel. the pyramids. even WALKED inside the first pyramid! (only 150 a day allowed!) rode a camel. air balloon ride over luxor + valley of the kings. just. words can’t describe, really.

hooray! so i didn’t get outside of anchorage much as it was a busy, busy weekend, but from what i saw, it is quite beautiful! mountains all around, water at one end. the fact that it’s light until about 11pm and gets light again around 6am threw me off (and didn’t provide me with much sleep!), but it was still great. i’m hoping to get back up there AGAIN this summer to actually get outside of anchorage. maybe as far as fairbanks this time? who knows.

so i FINALLY bought my tickets last week. i’ll be flying in in about two weeks! i can’t wait to see one of my favorite people and watch her graduate. i’m also going with my freshman year roomie up there, which makes it even better. should be a great weekend and a MUCH needed break from school work!

eeeeee! i think i might be going here in august or september. still saving, but i could pay for my flight right now, as well as have a few hundred left over. i’m hoping to do an air balloon flight over the pyramids if it all works out. this has been my DREAM since i was in the fourth grade, so, give or take, 15 years. i love the history that surrounds the country and i can’t wait to stand in front of the pyramids, in awe, i’m sure.

so, i’m taking a class called ‘contemporary spanish culture’ right now and we talk about the cities within spain quite often, so madrid comes up a lot. it just sounds amazing to me. i know a little bit of spanish, took 3 years in high school so i THINK i could get the jist of what people are saying. ever since i’ve started this class, i can’t get spain off my mind, madrid included.
