Ohio Renaissance Festival

Worth visiting!

a lot of fun

this thing was pretty awesome. i never really thought that a renaissance fair would interest me much, but i was TOTALLY WRONG. i had a great time. our knight was a pussy, but that’s cool.

played a skating rink

that was the only really notable thing about franklinville. that, and cedar water. we got hella lost in camden, nj. stopped for gas and had the holy hell scared out of me by some gangsta ass crackheads. then, we finally made it to the venue, which was a huge skating rink, about 4 hours early. decided to go into a wa-wa (their local convenient store) and get some tea. we met these three chicks who looked like they were going swimming. we asked them where they were swimming at and they told us about a lake. we went and it was closed. then, they told us to follow them to another lake where we could swim, so we followed again. this time, we swam in a cedar water lake. dave and i were the only ones to get into the water. we finally played the show with 4 tough guy hardcore bands (cdc, and a few others). rolled out at about 3 in the morning. touched base with dad before we hit the road again. also cleaned out the van after the show. next stop, ny city…

first stop on the "canada or bust" tour

it was exciting. we played in this huge three story house in the middle of this neighborhood off of 5th street. we got lost looking for the venue at first. someone had heard that the location had gotten changed, so we went to this other place. don’t remember the name of it. we finally found the place after the promoter came and picked us up. karen and her friends were there. it was nice to see her. she’s always fun. hef got smoked in the chest with a water balloon. some dude broke his ankle, too. i wish i could remember the other bands who played. i know hey bastard was supposed to play, but they cancelled.

i've played this club

and the show totally bombed. it was kind of hard for a band from indianapolis to promote for a show in canada. there were so many first rate metal bands on the bill, though, it should’ve sold out on day 1. check this shit.

TAKE THE RAINBOW BRIDGE IF YOU ARE IN A BAND!!!!!!

The rainbow bridge goes right through the Niagra falls/ North Tonawanda area of new york. I was going to canada to play a death metal festival with my band called Terror Fest and we got stopped at the entrance for some bullshit reason. we were playing the festival for free, so we SHOULDN’T have needed work permits. I mean, just think about it. If we weren’t getting paid for the show, then we could have just been tourists. anyway, when they turned us away at the border, someone clued us in to the rainbow bridge. the border officials were so much cooler there. they let us right in. oh, also HIDE YOUR MERCH. they make you pay some bullshit tax on merchandise that you sell.
