Worth visiting!

International Friendship Run

I was just there for the International Friendship Run that precedes the New York Marathon. We were thousands, from all over the world, just having fun, and warming up for the New York Marathon on the next day.

Aconcagua

Worth visiting!

We went to climb Aconcagua on February 2005

We got as high as Refugio Berlin and a storm kept us trapped there for three days. We had a great time and I can’t wait to get back. I went together with my brother, a great travel partner

Joe's Stone Crab

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Crabs!

Well, it is a restaurant. But the fun part about this restaurant is that they put newspapers as the table cloth. When you ask for crabs, they come in their shell, just boiled, and you get a wooden mallet to pound the hell out of the things.

don’t wear anything fancy into this joint, you will be splattered with crab. Tons of fun! Whenever someone is celebrating their birthday, they get cheered by everyone pounding their mallets on the table. So, it is noisy, and messy.

But the food is always good! Every time I go by Miami, I land there if possible. I have not been there lately, so I can not tell if they have upheld their quality. Have a key lime pie for dessert.

After I wrote the entry above, I found that it is in Patricia Schultz’s 1,000 Places To See Before You Die

Siena

(in Italy > Toscana)

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

A wonderful place! It has a great tower besides the plaza. I want to go back to see the Palio Horserace. It is in the Toscana region of Italy, which is a must tour!

Blue Grotto

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: The big cave with the little entrance

I thought it would be another tourist trap, but I enjoyed this visit very much. My wife had to drag me there. The cave has a little entrance and can only be entered when the tide is right. You sit in a little boat, 2 visitors and one oarsman, and wait for a wave. As soon as the wave lowers the water level, you shoot through the cave entrance.

Inside, it is a different world. The light that comes from outside is reflected all over the place. It is humid and cool, and there is this azure glow in the water. And then the singing starts, like in the movies: how corny! :o)

Darien National Park

(in Panama)

Worth visiting!

Walked across it 3 times

I have spent a lot of time down there. It is a spectacular rain forest, very dear to me.

Zermatt

Worth visiting!

Zermatt & Cervin

In Zermatt you can ski into Italy. You could ski two countries in the same day! Just make sure you carry cash to buy the lift ticket back into Switzerland. They do not accept credit cards down at the base, as I found out. I had to walk into town, into a bank, and get cash to buy a lift ticket to get back up into Zermatt. :)

Albuquerque

Worth visiting!

Did college there

A very particular place. I enjoyed its laid back rithm. Went there for a transition and almost did not leave. I am still attached to the place.

Geneva

Worth visiting!

Very serious place

I was impressed about how polite people were. As soon as I placed my foot on the pedestrian line, cars would stop. In Panama, you have to fight to cross a street. It has a little bit to do with people wanting to cross the streets wherever they feel like it. But, still, drivers in Geneva impressed me. I later found the same thing in Vancouver.

I had never seen so many swans. It was a very pretty sight, seeing all those swans swimming in Lake Geneva.

Fiji

Worth visiting!

EcoChallenge

We went there for EcoChallenge Fiji 2002. I did not get to see much since we were on the competition. I want to return and explore it a t leisure. The place has rivers sprouting out of the ground, all over. It was colder than I expected, specially in the rainforest.
