Alcalá de Henares

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

It’s only a half-hour away from Madrid by bus (they leave from Avenida de America bus/subway station). The historic downtown area is a relaxing walk and there are plenty of nice places for tapas or lunch. If you’re doing instense touristing in Madrid, this trip will be good for you; remind you that you’re on vacation. That’s why I like going there on Sundays, it’s an extra dose of chill.

Hieronymous Bosch - The Garden of Earthly Delights

Worth visiting!

The last time I went to this place

I was as amazed as the first time. It’s a tryptic, btw, not just a painting hanging on the wall. Very special work of art.

San Cristóbal de La Laguna

Why I want to go to this place

It’s appalling that I haven’t been there yet. My aunt actually teaches Art History at the University there. Thanks to her I’ve seen lots of beautiful places on Tenerife (Teide, Jardín Botánico and a few insteresting capillas along the way). I haven’t visited her in ages, but this will be the first place I visit next time I go (soon, I hope).

Caffè Sant' Eustachio

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Great coffee, of course

Surpisingly small and unpretentious for its fame (I read about it here, in the guidebook and in some other place). The greatest capuccino senza zucchero (no sugar, I avoid it when I can) I’ve had in ages. Not comfy inside, but perfect for that quick stop in between piazzas. I haven’t left Rome yet, but I’m already daydreaming of returning to this place on further visits.
