Beautiful but...
A bit sad at the same time. Spent a lot of time squinting, trying to imagine what it must have been like before they paved paradise and put up a… luxury hotel, condo on the beach, restaurant in Lahaina…
Best part of the trip was when we took a detour and found this second-rate beach with only kanaka ’oiwi there, no haolis.
The families looked at us strangely at first, but we said hello, smiled and settled in like we belonged there. Made many new friends that day, :-).
