Uganda

Went on a touristy-trip with my family for 10 days; mainly did gorilla-trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, which was amazing; and went on walks through various forests and a real african jungle. We also visited Ishasha national game reserve and Ngamba island which is a sanctuary for orphned chimps. We traveled with a huge Safari vehicle, with our very animated and lively tour guide Medi, and even though we drove many hours during the trip, seeing all the smaller random places and experiencing good old African driving (especially in Kampala) was part of the unforgettable experience.

Cameroon, Africa

Volunteering in Cameroon

I atayed in a small rural village, Belo, near Bamenda, in the North West province, for 1 month doing health-related and community-development volunteer work. So it was quite a hands-on experience of the people and their culture. Didn’t see much else of Cameroon except neighbouring villages, (beautiful lush green mountainous surroundings) and staying in Yaounde for 1 day. The cities are chaotic and full of character and life. Rural life is peaceful and pleasant, and Africa time always applies—quite a pleasant experience for me, from the big city. Made good friends, would like to visit again in the near future.
