Georgia Aquarium, Downtown

Very nice!

Well worth visiting! It is very nicely laid out, monstrously huge and the exhibits are gorgeous. I do think they need more leafy sea dragons – they are entrancing. The beluga whales are indescribably magnificent and awe-inspiring, as is their tank!

Battleship North Carolina, Wilmington

Phenomenal

The battleship is fabulous. It’s a self-guided tour, sometimes a bit confusing, but if you’re diligent about following the arrows, you can’t go wrong. There is so much to see, so many things to read – the snippets and memories from the crew are fascinating, humorous and poignant. You’ll spend at least 2 hours here. Worth every penny. Be aware you need to be fairly mobile, and wear good walking shoes – there are a good number of narrow ladders to go up and down. And ladies – it’s probably a good idea to wear pants when you do this tour, not skirts or dresses.

Very young kids will not get much out of this tour – one probably will only start appreciating it after one has matured some. Okay, a lot.

MagiQuest Myrtle Beach, SC, Myrtle Beach

Surprisingly entertaining!

When I first came across the MagiQuest website, I thought it might be a bit of a cheesy thing to do, but we were going to give it a shot to see if my 13-year-old would enjoy it. We actually found it surprisingly entertaining and boy did we expend energy!

Think of this as an indoor scavenger hunt with wands, entertaining riddles, quests, adventures, etc in a forest/castle-type setting. The clues will send kids (and parents) scuttling all over the place, up and down stairs, looking up and down, to find the required items, before coming back to the middle of the place in the rune stone circle to begin another quest. We easily spent hours there and burned quite a few calories. Lots of cheesy fun especially when the weather outside is frightful!
