There’s a lot to see and do here, but it’s basically a tourist trap, so be careful! You’ll have people trying to negotiate cheap tickets to events by persuading you to take tours of their log cabin communities at the butt crack of dawn. They’re like flies…they won’t leave you alone! If you’re not a huge fan of going to the shows (much of which are overpriced anyway), it’s definitely worth driving in and around the city. The mountains are absolutely beautiful and the locals are really nice.

I guess I’m just not a fan of big cities. I’ve been here a few times to visit friends and never once have I come home wishing I could go back. It’s too congestive for me.

Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina

I went here when I was younger for a national youth conference. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Definitely one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway, I would recommend Blue Ridge one of the places you should consider going.
