I went to the Snow Ball dance, and had a chance to go check out the town a little bit. It’s a bit run down, but looks like a very nice town, and is every bit the stereotype of a quiet New England town.

Not exactly a booming metropolis, but there are a number of good cheap places to eat, a couple of bars, and a couple art galleries in the downtown. Definitely the highlight is the American Folk Festival that they put on each summer.

Oh, and sometimes, they have huge fires in the middle of the winter, and ice freezes on buildings.

I’ve lived in Portland for a little under 2 years, and it’s a lovely place to live. Pretty cheap apartments, lots of fun stuff to do, and a really nice downtown.
