For some reason I thought the Panama Canal was going to be some massive awe-inspiring structure. Granted it is an engineering feat, but I felt decieved.

The huge cargo ships that pass through are actually quite skinny, so the canal needn’t be very wide.

Make sure you visit at a time of day when they are letting the bigger ships through, now that is a sight to behold.

My boyfriend and I made $1200 and got free passes to places like Xel-ha and Xcaret. On top of it we got free lunches and drinks while on the tours.

All you have to do is get in with the guys on the street who try to offer you the “free day cruise” or whatever. Just tell them you know they can offer you cash. They’ll hook you up with several hotels cuz they get a commission for bringing people in regardless if they buy.

After that take your earnings, ditch commercialized Cancun, and stay at one of the quaint $10 a night places on Isla Mujer which is a 15 minute boat ride away.

I love NYC at 4 in the morning… when the streets are empty and you can hear the hum of street sweepers and garbage trucks in the distance. I’ll look up at the buildings, filled with millions of sleeping people, and wonder who they are and what will happen to them. It’s quite humbling.
