This place is incredible. If you go in Jan-March expect rain. But even rainy it is beautiful. This is the park that contains Angel Falls. Things are still wild here, and you can only get to the falls by flying to Canaima and then taking a boat, and then hiking… it’s far from everything and very peaceful. Although you will see other people, it’s not ruined by too many people. Hopefully it can stay this way.

Fabulous Fabulous Fabulous…. but don’t believe the hike to Lopez Mendes beach is “easy” – I’m a bit out of shape and it took a lot longer than most people told us. However, we did see a family of 15 monkeys along the trail. They came right up to the tree along the trail and after about 5 minutes we were only feet away from them. We watched (and took photos) of them for 20 minutes… They were so amazing and soooo small and cute.

I’ve been here twice now and want to go back whenever possible….. It’s AMAZING. Maybe I’ll retire here… beautiful, relaxing, cheap – what more could you want?

This is a beautiful place… wear comfy shoes as the streets are such that you will definitely break your neck if you wear heels.
