I fell off a horse and broke my hand because the saddle slipped off to the side. Be wary of horseback riding tours!
over 6 years agoPittsburgh is at its most beautiful in the summertime. I would highly recommend visiting when it isn’t likely to be snowy and gross. Take the incline up to Mount Washington for the second best view. The very best view is when you pop out of the Fort Pitt tunnel at night and the lights from the skyscrapers reflect in the rivers. (I think there was a scene like this in The Perks of Being a Wallflower…but if its a cliche, there’s a reason that its a cliche) Another thing to remember when you visit is that there is nothing downtown. If you want to find shopping, restaurants, bars, clubs, etc. you need to wander into the various neighborhoods. Also, you’ll probably want your car, our public transport is less than stellar.
over 6 years agoI have been to Chicago twice now, once in snowy January and most recently in early August, and both times I have been struck by what a clean, beautiful city it is. There is something about the way that the light reflects off the river that winds its way through these massive skyscrapers, and the expanse of Lake Michigan looming out into the horizon. It makes you not care that you just stepped in a big slushy puddle in your dress shoes. And you smile. It is also a special place for me because it was a place that I got to share with my boyfriend, and it inspires great visions of our future together when we are both constantly exclaiming “I want to move here! Right now!”
