Had a fantastic time
everyone was kind and helpful, no major mishaps, and such an incredible beautiful country.

I leave in 25 days. Taking a two week trip, lima-nazca-puno-cuzco-puerto maldonado-cuzco-lima
So excited! major historical sites and some of the most amazing wildlife, it’s the best of both worlds. Just hope all goes well with bus/hostel/airport transfers. yay!

This is on my TODO list for next year, but it’s really expensive, and I might not have the money to do it. But there is a contest that could send me there to blog about it, and I would love the chance. Please help me by voting, and encourage other people to vote for me too. This would be huge for me, and not take much of your time. Do an awesome deed today!

Because it was open late, we wound up here, and boy am I glad we did. The dark wood interior has all the feel of a ships belly. and the Jumbalaya with sausage, turkey, and alaskan salmon was perfect.

we explored an area of the cave, then realized it was the wrong way. military style belly crawling on lava, without kneepads… great fun.

no view, just fog and mist. snow still piled on the trail in places, flowers perfectly covered in an icy dew. snow shoe hare, a pigeon that sounded like an owl, and a curious blue grouse.
oh yeah, and watch out for the angry goat.

We arrived at near 8pm. While it was still really lite outside, most of the shops were closed. Zeitgeist coffee was closed for a wedding reception. And there were a lot of homeless people out and about. While only one of them was scary (yelling at another guy, bradishing what, a rake handle?, and eventually having said stick taken by a policeman, and he proceeded to kick the cop’s car) the sheer numbers of people loitering in doorways and benches made me feel like we shouldn’t be there. I’d like to go back earlier in the day. visit the book shops and art galleries.

I love Jim Henson, and seeing Kermit, operating a muppet in a music video, and putting designs into the muppet fur walls was awesome. So cool to see early commercials and artifacts from not only sesame street but the dark crystal, fraggle rock, etc was awesome.
The regular exhibit is also fun, with memorabilia from film and tv, like a hover board from back to the future, guns from everything from blade runner to men in black, and even the original death star. There are also a lot of book copies from some of my favorite sci fi, and some I hope to read in the future. oddly, there aren’t novels for sale in the gift shop. But they did have bobble head ewoks and alien finger puppets.
