Etosha National Park, Etosha

amazing wildlife by hippie1427

In Etosha, we saw an amazing variety of animals. in 2 days and 2 night, we saw elephants, rhinos, giraffes, hyenas, jackals, lions, and several large bird species. we spent one night at a watering hole, and another night on a game drive, where we saw more smaller animals, like 2 fox species, porcupine, owls, and were even lucky enough to spot some hyenas hunting a young hartebeest, which got away.

And just to prove that Etosha has something amazing going on everywhere, our night game drive did come at the expense of a chance at seeing a leopard which came to the the watering hole while we were gone.

Good Eats by hippie1427

We tried the ribs and steak, and found both to be great, thanks to great flavored toppings. The sides don’t dissapoint either, and they put some sort of tangy bbq sauce on their rolls even. Good stuff.

Front Street Ale House, Friday Harbor

Great food by hippie1427

Because it was open late, we wound up here, and boy am I glad we did. The dark wood interior has all the feel of a ships belly. and the Jumbalaya with sausage, turkey, and alaskan salmon was perfect.

Mount Saint Helens, Mount Saint Helens National Volcanic Monument

ape cave crawl by hippie1427

we explored an area of the cave, then realized it was the wrong way. military style belly crawling on lava, without kneepads… great fun.

Hurricane Ridge, Olympic National Park

Early morning hike by hippie1427

no view, just fog and mist. snow still piled on the trail in places, flowers perfectly covered in an icy dew. snow shoe hare, a pigeon that sounded like an owl, and a curious blue grouse.

oh yeah, and watch out for the angry goat.
