Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

It was a dream came true. Not something out of the postcards but really Ruins of St. Paul right before my eyes.

Macau

(in China)

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Macau

I had my birthday stamped on my passport because of Macau.

It was unfortunate that the pork buns were sold out before we arrived but we had pork toast and that wasn’t nearly enough for me.

Lantau Island

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Lantau

Despite evil dissuasions from my traveling companions who did not want to go to Lantau, stating reasons about the inaccessibility and the lack of scenary, I have to say that it is not as difficult as said to get to Lantau island.

It takes a subway ride and a bus ride to find Serenity. It was misty and surreal when I finally climbed onto the top most level of the stairs to see the biggest Buddha in Asia. I’ve also decided to walk the Wisdom Path because it is something wise to do. Trekking across muddy paths because it was raining before, we finally came to a clearing which has wooden inscriptions staked onto the ground and it was a breathtaking sight!

I found my gratification in the Lantau trip then.

Hong Kong

(in China)

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

It was my 26th birthday and I decided to take a trip out to somewhere affordable so Hong Kong naturally came to mind. It was a 3 hours 45 minutes ride via Jetstar, a budget airline.

Hong Kong is amazing because it is so vibrant. It is like a city that never sleeps. Every nook and corner, you encounter busy ladies making their way to the markets or the dessert stores, old men with their newspapers chattering excitedly. It is heaven clearly for shopaholics. You can haggle with the mobile shop owners for the best prices for street brands and umbrellas or choose to wander into comfortable shopping centres that carry Juicy Couture, H&M and LeSportSac.

I had the best time eating in Hong Kong because Cantonese people are all about food. Roast goose noodles, cart noodles, steamboat (or the so-called hotpots), egg tarts, milk pudding, mango pomelo dessert, curry fishballs by the sticks, you name it, they have it!

Will not hesitate to go back to Hong Kong again. In fact, I will be heading there again in September 2008!

Good shopping. Interesting people. Very fast tuk-tuk cars! But please bargain for anything you buy, slash prices by a lot. Always go by meter for taxis.

China

(in Asia)

Worth visiting!

Beijing, Tianjin, Chengde

I went there on a school trip and visited the three places above. China was my first trip to somewhere further and it excited me a great deal. The things there are cheap and i took a major history lesson just by visiting the Forbidden City, Great Wall of China, Summer Palace etc.

I just regretted the fact that at that time, i did not have a digital camera yet and go trigger-happy. I plan to visit other provinces after i satisfy my European fetishes :)

Montreal

Worth visiting!

Vieux Montréal

Was in Montréal for about 3 days and i love the fact that people there are francophones, everything retains a little of old European. There are buggy rides to be found, art galleries everywhere and i went in summer so it was sunny and bright and flowers are blooming everywhere. There are quaint cafes to be found too and a restaurant “Eggspectation” that sells everything eggs!

To the people who are visiting Montréal, i envy you.
