Brilliant Drive- even better since it used to be the railroad that they then made over into an unpaved road- the Vistas are wonderful and when you hit the penultimate- u see Needles Pass- its eponymous and very impassable by road- we hiked over the pass and it was ever so worth it!
over 7 years agoI lived 45 miles from Bhutan as a teenager- till now, of all the places I’ve lived in or visited, Bhutan has the absolute best sunsets. Michigan is a close second.
The people- lovely, innocent- did you know that till 1983, houses were not locked? Crime didnt exist….
The king, Jigme Singye Wangchuk was a major heartthrob, rivalled by his counterpart in Sikkim- another paradise, Wangchuk Namgyal.He just handed over power voluntarily towards eventual democratization of the country.
I would visit Bhutan a thousand more times….
Lived in LA for 2 years while I was a film maker. Never went then but 10 years later on a 3 day visit, did go. Well worth it if only to take a look at a marvellous collection.
