Mykonos

Worth visiting!

Untitled

My wife and I were stranded here an extra night, stealing a day we had already paid for in Santorini. It’s a very party oriented island in the main city, but I rented a scooter and had a fantastic time visiting some of the less busy rural farm areas on the island and the less crowded beaches away from where the cruise ships regularly deposit tidal waves of people and then take them away. But it’s still a beautiful island even if you don’t want to party until 7 am each night.

Worth visiting!

Untitled

A very rich place to visit, culturally, visually, historically. In some ways, it is the central city of the world.

A review of this place: Unbelievable

Pictures don’t do it justice.

Mount Shasta

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

I climbed this a few times, it’s a long way up but the view is awesome. This is a trip to train for. But just being around the mountain on a clear day is beautiful too.

Why I want to go to this place

I wasn’t even really aware of this country until seeing the amazing film from there, Monks and Magicians. A truly beautiful and very engaging film that makes me want to go to that country. It reminded me a lot of Nepal.

Why I want to go to this place

It’s the home of the Loose Moose theater, where Keith Johnstone is based. Keith Johnstone started Theater Sports, and wrote the book Impro, which changed my life. It would be a pilgrimage of sorts.

Naha

Why I want to go to this place

My fathers parents came from Naha in Okinawa. I’d like to see it before I die, and hopefully trace some of my roots, maybe find out what my great grandparents life was like.

Mississippi

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I visited Missippi when I was a kid, and it seems silly to say “not worth visiting”, but I can hardly say I’d recommend the place. We were camping, and all I remember was a camping site with the most vicious mosquitos we had ever experienced. We were actually scared, not so much from the size but probably because our parents might have been afraid because of disease, though I never asked them. I’m tempted to say I’ve never been to Missippi, this was only one camp ground, and maybe we didn’t zip up properly which is why so many of them got into our camper. I do hope to make a better visit some day.

West Edmonton Mall

Just to surf the waves indoors

The world’s largest mall, it just seems like a cool thing that it has an indoor pool with a wave generator, so you can surf indoors.

Jerusalem

(in Israel)

Worth visiting!

Widen your perspective

I don’t know how to describe Jerusalem to visit. The contrasts are intense, and your preconceptions may be reduced to rubble. I really enjoyed the museum in the new city. My heart was broken seeing all the guns on the streets, but it was an amazing experience I can’t describe in this small space.
