Kilifi, Coast
Sleepy
Kilifi is a sleepy little town – it’s really two villages connected by a bridge – on the coast 50-odd miles north of Mombasa.
I’ve been here for almost 3 weeks now, and am planning to stay another 8.
Right now it’s an expat hideaway, tucked away from any backpacker trail – however it’s got its token resorts (all coastal Kenyan towns seem to) which are luxury-style and attract wealthy Italians who you hardly ever see actually in town. There are only 2 such complexes though, and they’re pretty small by luxury resort standards, so I’m not complaining.
The only budget travellers who are here are medical (or of that ilk) students.
