greenstone answers,
I spent a year in highschool in costa rica.. the curriculum is quite different to what i was used to in new zealand, there are about 13 compulsory subjects..Public schools tend to be a bit slack since the teachers get paid little and sometimes they don’t turn up. I was at a private school in san jose, it was about US$200 per month.. they don’t have the same resources such as science labs etc but its ok. There are also bilingual/straight english schools if your kids can’t speak spanish but if they were to spend a year or two in a spanish school they would be completely fluent. In terms of a good place to live.. yeah guanacaste is the place that comes to mind, also the tempisque river on the carribean side has great white water rafting/kayaking but i’m not sure what the schools are like in rural/coastal areas. Good luck with everything!
