This is my real hometown where my parents still live.
I grew up here and lived here for about 20 years before I moved to Leuven and later Tienen.
Zoutleeuw is actually a nice little place to visit, a lot of tourists stop here to see the 13th century church and the other buildings on the market square and ‘het Vinne’.
To quote the tourist office:
‘Zoutleeuw is more often referred to as the “art centre of Flemish Brabant”. It owes this name to its many art treasures, which were preserved because Zoutleeuw was spared from the iconoclastic fury of the 16th century. The religious brotherhoods, the guilds and the bourgeoisie who made their money from the cloth industry constructed fabulous buildings, such as the magnificent Town Hall and Cloth Hall. St. Leonard’s Church, which was built between the 13th and 16th centuries, contains a magnificent copper Easter candlestick dating from 1483, and a sacrament tower, an 18-metre high, richly decorated tabernacle, dating from 1552.
Besides ample helpings of art and culture, the green environment around Zoutleeuw, and particularly the provincial parklands of het Vinne, are a paradise for cyclists and ramblers.’

The medina of Sousse is worth a visit. It is well preserved and is full of life, with a lot of shops (mainly focused on tourist). At the north of the medina you’ll find the Ribat.
There are some nice restaurants in Sousse like ‘Le Peuple’ that serve Tunisian food at very affordable prices.
If you’re somewhere on the coastline of Tunisia, it’s easy to visit Sousse by train.
