Itaewon

Not worth visiting!

"Little America"

If you want to experience true Seoul, stay away from Itaewon. It has a reputation of being “Little America” and one trip there and you’ll see why.

This area is completely void of anything Korean.

I went at night and it was beautiful! I went one of the first nights I was there and it gave me a good mental map of the layout of the city.

I love the G

I live and work off of the G train! The G train is definitely better than most people give it credit for.

Good day trip from BA

I took a day trip here after staying in Buenos Aires for two weeks. It was a nice little break. I think the ferry dropped us off at around 9:00 and the returning ferry back to BA left around 20:00 and it was only about $40 US. It was very beautiful, but I was getting bored the last hour or two and ready to go back to BA.

I would definitely recommend it though! I had a few hours of fun sightseeing and learning all the history of that area of Uruguay!

Seattle

Gotta love the Emerald City...

I’ve traveled to almost every “major” city in the US, and Seattle is in my top 3 favorites! Such a great city!

Paraguay

Worth visiting!

It doesn't have the "wow" factor, but still special nonetheless

I went to visit a friend who was volunteering outside of Asuncion. It was definitely a great experience and made me thankful for everything that I have back here in the states. I’ll be back for some mate and chipa, though!

Asunción

Worth visiting!

Dusty and hot, but more modern than you'd think

Like most third world cities, the division between the rich and the poor are very apparent. I spent about a week in Paraguay, which included four days in Asunción.

Everything is ridiculously cheap, but other than that there isn’t much to see/do except live like the locals (which doesn’t cost much). I’m torn of whether or not I’d recommend Asunción as a place is a must see, but it’s definitely one of those places that not a lot of people can claim to have been.

Saint Paul Winter Carnival

Worth visiting!

Untitled

I grew up in St. Paul and went to the Winter Carnivals as a kid. They’re NOT what they used to be. There used to always be an ice palace, but they don’t really do that anymore (I think it would melt with these warm winters we have now).

They had one in 2004 (I think) but it was way too commercial.

I grew up here and loved it. I think what they say about “St. Paul is the last East Coast city, and Minneapolis is the first West Coast city” is true. It has an ‘old money’ feel to it, in a good way.
