Lamma Island

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

walk the path from one end to the other, about 1.5 hours, midway through it’s a bit steep, so make sure you have good shoes.

the food is cheaper in So Kwu Wan; but there are some excellent cafes alone the path with some more traditional great food, such as warm tofu with syrup and fresh fish balls and squid, for 1/3 the price of the primary restaurants.

Green Dragon Inn

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Great Pub

Another great pub. Good Food, Good Spirits…Try the Butcombe (Bitter) my favorite, Courage would be my 2nd choice.

Another hidden location, where mercedes, tractors, and muddy land rovers in the car park are the norm. Best location (turn right when entering) is cosy, warm and welcoming, grab a seat at the bar or by the window…though the window is often taken by someone and their dog. The fire is often lit, and if the booze won’t keep you warm, the fire definitely will.

It’s also a B&B with quite reasonable prices. I went there several times just for drinks and once for dinner; which was excellent

Four Dogs Tavern

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Great Pub

I’ve been going to the Four Dogs for many years, I used to work closer to it(about 10miles). I live about 30+ miles away, yet I’ll go there on whim. In some ways I wish it was closer, and on many ways I don’t. If I wasn’t in the city so often, I’d love to live nearby and call this my local pub.

It’s got a very eclectic brunch menu; but very good. It’s got that relaxed attitude, of great english pub. (Like the Ship Inn in Noss Mayo, or Green Dragon in Cockleford[Gloucestershire]). Personally the best place to sit is in or at the bar; though smoking is still allowed.

It’s one of those places where there’s mercedes and tractors in the parking lot. (not so much tractors here, as Horse Trainers and Horse Owners).

Le Bec-Fin

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

One of the best restaurants in the World. It was #1 in the US for about 5 years. It is a price fixed restraurant, about $120/person. Not including drinks. It’s usually about 6-7 courses, all you can eat on the cheese and dessert carts.

Expect your dinner for 2 to exceed $300. Well worth it….but not an everyday event.

Valentines day is normally sold out 1-2years in advance.

There is Bar Lyonais – an a la carte bar/restaurant in the basement.

Buddakan

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

one of my favorite restaurants.

The food is served in a 2-3person serving size, and is brought out when done. (order 2-3 meals for 4 people; food brought to the table when it’s ready, not all at once)

The opal ‘family style’ table is a hot spot to eat, it’s about 15 per side, and can have multiple parties sitting at it.

Mount Washington

Worth visiting!

Hike It.

It’s best to hike this great mountain. Hike up the the Lakes of the Clouds for 1 night, then hike down Tuckerman Ravine. Be sure to have 3+ layers, as it may snowing up top, even in in July.

The Hamptons

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

worth visiting to see excess money wasted. There are few nice towns, but most are gaudy/flashy. Most of the beach house are only used a few weekends a year.

During the summer: bikes/walking is faster then driving, the big money types fly out in helicopter/personal jet from NYC, else you take the train. Unless you throw money around, expect to spend several $100/night if you go out to dinner/bar.

A tip I have about this place

A nice quaint town in Cornwall. Apparently it is a very hip location for Londoners. (who stay at the Hotel Tresanton) [Though the Idle Rocks Hotel, is very nice as well with a good French Restaurant.]

From the looks of the town(in the office season) it looks to be a chic beach side town, where costs could be high in season.
