I absolutley love this place. I was here for 2 days and stayed and extra day instead of spending a day in Milan. The views are beautiful, the people are friendly, the food is awesome.
I didn’t have a place to stay when I got here and was walking around one of the towns looking. The few little old ladies were sitting on a bench and one asked me if I was looking for a place to stay, I said yes. She offered a room in her house which turned out to be a small apartment. She lived with her husband upstairs.
She didn’t speak any english and I spoke very little italian so we tried communicating for about 2 hours by pointing, writing, drawing, etc. Finally she had a neighbor come over and translate.
I remember her pointing to a b&w picture of nyc with the world trade center. I remember her mentioning her soon visited there. I said I used to work near there. Then the next year, 9/11 happened.
I want to go back to to Cinque Terra. I’m sure I could find her house again.
I also remember on the hiking trail climbing down the rocks and finding a nice little beach in an alcove…very private, peaceful, just awesome. The water was crystal clear. Next time, I want to go with a girl.
