Hot, humid, spicy, bright, blue, bumpy, friendly people, even better food, flowers everywhere, a never-ending sea of children in school uniforms, music throbbing underneath everything…in short, a gorgeous and amazing place to visit. The island has character.

Only able to speak a smattering of French (but able to read and understand substantially more), I allowed myself to drift anywhere my nose or eyes took me. There are so many pretty, delicious things and places in Brussels. It certainly helps that it was sunny for the extent of my trip…

I had the most amazing time just wandering through this city, taking the bus, eating pastries and cheese on the beach, and just people-watching on the Promenade.
