It is awesome to see these towers in person. It boggles my mind how a man without any formal architectutral training built these sculptures that have withstand time and the earthquakes of California.

What could have possessed this man to build his “Nuestro Pueblo” for 33 years? Is this what is called passion? Simon Rodia’s calling in life? To built this art single-handidly with the tallest tower standing at 99 1/2 feet.

I enjoyed the tour of the towers. The colors are so varied and the materials used were ingenous. I loved taking the photographs of the tower of the hearts in particular, it just speaks to me of true love of what he was creating. This man had a sense of purpose. Did he listen to his inner self, that voice that beckons us if we only listen?

It was a hot weekend and the spray mist outside restaurants is so welcoming even to a visitor who gre up in the tropics. This is dessert heat! All I did is eat,drink, swin and lounge! A vacation of just chilling :)

Some 17 years ago I was offered a job overlooking the towers. When 9-11 happened I knew then the reason I did not get the job. Divine intervention so that I will not witness the devastation that would have been my view that day. God is really amazing and does his job in my book. He has other stuuf for me to feel, look, experience and 9-11 was not one of them.

The year I went I volunteered for a trade show in the hopes I get to see snow. I have been in the States for 17 years and no images of snow except the dirty snow in the streets when I arrived that January in Chicago.

Well I stayed at the business district away from the shopping places that HongKong is famous for. I took the train going back to the airport and I am totally impressed on how clean it was.

I looked at their faces and you see joy inspite of.

The “bahay na Bato”, literal translation is house made of stone. This is my dream house rich with history.

I have been to Maui by myself and although it is feasible, it is really a place to be with someone special. I would surley want to come back and share that experience. I feel at home in Maui with the beautiful waterfalls and the call of the artist in everyone.

I have always welcomed and embraced the jews in my life. In 2003 a jew in Israel who is a complete stranger said prayers for me at the wailing wall. This act of kindness I will never forget.

Architecture and a sense of roots. 300 years the Spaniards were in the Philippines and as a result my mom’s dad is one. I even have a godmother that is based in Madrid. This is just one place I am sure I would feel a sense of affinity. Ah and the siesta of my youth.
