New York City, New York State
Untitled
New York has been a place at the forefront of my mind since I could remember. Smoking manholes, sky-high buildings, people dressed in drab colored wool and designer sun-glasses, Black icy roads, cab drivers screaming at the top of their lungs in a brogue that only a New Yorker could muster. Bakeries, restaurants, cigar bars, hole in the wall pubs, greasy spoons, gourmet epicurean havens, thai, german, italian, french, pizza, and hamburgers… 24 hrs a day.
Well dressed businessmen, union iron workers, movie stars, punks, skins, babbling crackheads, and thugs…all on the same narrow street.
Diversity, intricate city-scape, smells, sights, sounds- a sensory overload.
That’s what I imagine New York to be like.
I really want to go.
Alaska, United States
Untitled
I was sent to Alaska to live with my sister and brother-in-law on a military base (Ft. Richardson). I was in 6th grade, quite young, but I loved this place, nonetheless.
The mountains, the charging Moose, learning to snowboard, the first time I saw snow…all of it was amazing.
My grandfather also lived there, on the Kenai Peninsula, for almost 20 years. He died a few years ago.
I would love to visit it again. It was my first view of the world outside of Florida.
