Bad Ass Coffee Co.

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Great coffee

The coffee was great and I loved the layout and design of the place. The first time I went was right after their grand opening a few years ago. I spoke with two of the owners and really enjoyed myself the whole time. They apparently have live music every so often but I’ve only been during daylight hours.

A review of this place

I can’t say much about the town at all but I’ve stopped a few times in the town just for the Superman statue. It was worth the stop for me. Everyone else who happened to be along on the trips seemed to enjoy it too.

Go Mariners!

Growing up in Alabama I had a chance to see the Braves play in Atlanta a few times. But while living in Puyallup the same year that Safeco opened I took my chance to see the Mariners play at Safeco as often as I could. The ballpark is amazing, beautiful and full of ambience!

Gas Works Park

Worth visiting!

Untitled

Greg Bear (an author who lives in Seattle) mentions Gas Works Park in one of his books. So while I was living in Puyallup and able to visit Seattle often I had to visit Gas Works Park just to see it. I was greatly impressed with the view of Seattle and it was so nice to connect with a place I’d read about.

Pike Place Market

A review of this place

I miss going to Pike Place Market. I lived in Puyallup, Washington from the summer of 99 through summer of 2000 and we went to Pike Place often. So many nifty shops, so many great food choices, and the atmosphere is soooo alive.

A review of this place

I’m a native of Birmingham, Alabama. I spent a year in Washington (99-2000). We lived in Puyallup but we visited Seattle often. I loved going to games at Safeco. I loved the aquarium. I loved Pioneer Square. Pike Place Market was so much fun. I loved just driving through the city. So many wonderful spots, so many really great festivals and so many wonderful buildings. I loved every minute I spent in Seattle—except the horrible, horrible traffic. One day I will return with my wife and kids to share with them the experience of Seattle.

How this place changed my life

I’m a native of Birmingham, Alabama. I moved to Puyallup, Washington in the summer of 1999 for a short wonderful year. My ex-wife and I were trying to find a place within reasonable distance to her new job and yet still close enough to Seattle. We knew very little about Puyallup before moving.

Compared to towns of similar size in Alabama—well, I thought it’d be a place where I did nothing but rest my head in at night while spending the rest of my time anywhere else. But that was far from the truth. Saturdays were spent at Pioneer Park enjoying the farmers market. Visiting the Puyallup Fair was a blast. The friends we made were great. I even experienced my one and only earthquake one evening there. Unfortunately my ex-wife didn’t care for being so far from Alabama and after her year was up with the job that took her out there she wanted to moved back.

I miss Puyallup an awful lot and hope to take my wife and kiddos there to experience the wonderful town and the state of Washington some day.

Lacey's Spring

Untitled

My 3 step kiddos live in Lacey’s Spring. I’m a transplant living in Huntsville. I grew up in Birmingham which was always too small and closed for my own liking. I left Birmingham for Puyallup, Washington (30 minutes south of Seattle). Puyallup, Seattle, the whole state of Washington was a dream. A year after moving back to Birmingham I found myself enraptured with a Huntsville native. Imagine my ordeal spending so much time in Lacey’s Spring now. Small minded, small town with no interest in anything outside of its own borders.

How this place changed my life

I moved here after meeting my wife. She’s a native while I’m from Birmingham. I’d visited Huntsville before many times but it’s been a shock actually living here. It’s not the science/geek mecca I thought it was. But it isn’t all bad either. Due to family circumstances I still don’t know many actually citizens of Huntsville. We spend more time in Lacey’s Spring with my 3 step children. Somehow, some way, I’d like to actually get more involved in Huntsville events.
