My Grandfather’s step-father financed one of the Oak Island explorations in the early 1900’s. As you can imagine he didn’t find anything. ;-)

It’s been a few years since I’ve been here, but there’s a lodge on Lake Massawippi called the Ripplecove Inn, which has an incredible 4 Diamond Restaurant. I don’t think there’s a more beautiful place to watch the leaves turn in the fall.

My favorite restaurant in Florence, primarily because of the head waiter Luigi, who is a great guy and speaks five languages. (How many american waiters speak five languages!) Over the years we’ve sent dozens of our friends to see him and they always bring this photo, so he knows that we sent them.
As of last year Luigi was still there, so if you’re near the Duomo in Florence, stop in and see him. Oh and don’t forget the photo!
P.S. Some of you might notice that one of my daughter Alex’s eyes looks a little strange in this photo. It was taken one month before they found a leukemic tumor behind her eye.

Some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had and the best service we had in Australia. I only wish they would open up a restaurant in Seattle!

We stayed at Menenia back in 1996 and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Australia. You can read my thoughts about Menenia on my now 10 year old blog: Adventures in Oz.

I spent a day in Verona during my trip to Italy in 2001. Next time I intend to spend a lot more time there.

Spent a week here during February 2005. Stayed at the Fairmont Lake Louise, which is right on the lake, and had a blast.

I was born in the suburbs outside of NYC and lived there until I was 12, then moved back again after college. If I had to choose one place to live during your twenties, this is the place. I got to take my 8 year old daughter back there for a visit last January and she loved it, especially the cab rides. Kid has serious thrill issues!
P.S. The photo is of my daughter at the top of the Empire State Building.

I lived in the Bay Area for 7 years and it was a great experience. I left New York in 1993, much to the chagrin of my family and friends, but in the end it changed my life in a very good way.

The first blog I ever wrote was during my trip to Australia back in October 1996, although at the time blogs didn’t even exist, so I didn’t know I was writing one!
The photo was taken from a helicopter on the way back from Heron Island.
