Loved Otavalo. Awesome markets on the weekend, with low prices. Beautiful surroundings and good food. Try to be there for the weekend market.

The bus trip from Quito was insane however. He was taking the corners so fast, the tyres rubbed on the wheel arches. :)

Beautiful town, set at the base of a couple of volcanoes. Recommend hiring a bicycle and ride the downhill road to Puyo. Awesome scenery! The toffee that the town is famous for, is brilliant.

Go so some hiking in the area, and see the giant sequoias. Beautiful place!

Get a clam chowder in a sourdough bowl bun at the wharf! Brilliant stuff.

What an awesome town! We had no idea it is such a clean, well planned out town.

Been wanting to go here all my life. Had the hugest expectations of it, and they were still surpassed. Totally surreal place. So quiet, so peaceful.. such a sight on the eyes.

I recommend hiking here, either via the Inca Trail or Salkantay trek.

We stayed first in the Old Town. Loved it, the old colonial buildings are brilliant. Not to mention lack of tourists.

On our second time there after being down south, we tried staying in the New Town. Really didn’t like it. Very touristey, gringo, everything was much more expensive and no Ecuadorian food in sight. But try it if you want.

It’s a long way from the north bus terminal to the south one. Or from the airport to the Old Town. Well from almost anywhere to anywhere in this huge city. Beware the altitude if you are coming here from sealevel too.

Came here from Thailand, en route to Pak Beng / Luang Prabang. But this place is the meeting point for the Gibbon Experience which was the most awesome, amazing thing I did whilst in SE Asia last year. You go way out into the jungle, far from anything and camp for 2 or 3 nights in treehouses which are by far the most whacked out awesome ones I’ve seen. They are way up the top of tall trees above the canopy of the rest of the forest, and the only way to get to them is via zip line / flying fox. Was simply awesome.

Laus is unbelievably beautiful, and the people are too. I’d love to go back.

We went Huay Xai -> Pak Beng -> Luang Prabang -> Vientiane (passing through).

Awesome city! Loved it. Lots to do and see, it’s fascinating how liberal the Dutch are. Had so much fun, even though I’m not (really) a druggo!
