    Tropic

    Worth visiting!

    Untitled  — 10 months ago

Tropic is a really small town just east of Bryce Canyon National Park. It has a couple of good looking hotels and restaurants, and on the whole looks like a much superior choice for lodging around Bryce than Panguitch. But then, I camped when I went to Bryce so I can’t say for sure. By the way the Ruby’s Inn area just outside the park looks pretty respectable, too. I’d steer clear of Panguitch though, if you can help it.

    Hayden Valley

    Worth visiting!

    Untitled  — 10 months ago

Beautiful valley of rolling hills with the Yellowstone River winding through as it makes its way from Yellowstone Lake to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. There are always herds of bison around here (at least there have been both times I’ve driven through – I can’t guarantee you’ll see them, but it’s probably the easiest and best place to try if you want to see some.) Expect traffic delays at busy times, because people stop to see the animals, and sometimes the bison just stand out in the middle of the road and you can’t get past them.

    Grand Canyon Of The Yellowstone

    Worth visiting!

My favorite part of the park  — 10 months ago

This is a spectacular, deep gorge carved out of the colored stone that gives the river and the park its name. There are a lot of easy access lookout points you can drive to reach and each one gives you an entirely different view. The brink of the lower falls is worth the short, steep hike.
