Got to visit Humboldt county this past week, and have to say I was amazed by not only the scenery, but also the people. Everyone was so laid back and friendly! I didn’t get to do too much sightseeing because I got sick 2 days after I got there, but what I did get to see was amazing! Having never been to the pacific coast, and living in a more humid area, I was blown away by the beautiful weather and the sight of the ocean just up the way. Every day. Next time, I won’t get sick and I’ll get to see more of the redwoods.

One of my favourite things about this area is that it’s so visually different from where I live. It’s so flat in the area I generally go to (Idaho Falls/Rigby), it seems like you can see forever. Where I live we have hills and trees everywhere (which I inevitably miss while I’m there). Craters of the Moon is otherworldly, it’s worth the visit just for that. The nice thing is that the Falls isn’t too far from Yellowstone, so you can go for a (long) day trip or overnight, then back to town if you have limited time or other obligations.
