Amsterdam, Noord-Holland

just a stopover

I came to step on this place when I went to England last September. Not actually in the true sense of the word because I only stayed at the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport obviously for a “stopover”, with connecting flight to Manila, Philippines. During “touchdown” and “take-off” I noticed the windmills at a distance from the airplane window and they are so beautiful. Haven’t seen one of those in the Philippines although we have some of them located in the northern province. I also admire those clogs in different sizes displayed at the stores in the airport and the wooden tulips. I have managed to bring home some clogs.

Manchester, Greater Manchester

Untitled

Just a travel tip. Don’t forget to bring your camera with you and see to it that you are prepared with your camera(charged batteries). I went here last September, one weekend during my 2-week job-related training in West Yorkshire. It was such a beautiful place! Too bad, my camera went off just 3 days before I came here so I went to Manchester with my camera phone.

Halifax, West Yorkshire

Halifax is beautiful!

I consider Halifax “my home” for two weeks(September 16, 2007-September 30, 2007) during my stay at West Yorkshire, England for a job-related training. The hotel which I stayed at was in Halifax and I am proud to say that I have roamed around the place. Well, the town centre to be exact. The office where the training was conducted is located in Mytholmroyd so I had spent much time walking(I consider it roaming leisurely) to and from the Halifax train station. Just too bad because I was wearing my heels most of the time and not so much foot-friendly with the brickstone pavement of Halifax. I’ve been to Piece Hall and every place in Woolshops Shopping Centre which is the main shopping area in Halifax. The Piece Hall is majestic with its Georgian building. I was also a regular customer at Sainsbury’s. It is quite big supermarket and the ready-to-eat foods are great(except for some that i would add some salt to it). I was also able to buy toblerones at a very cheap price. The buildings(mills) at Dean Clough were also admirable.
