Mount Pinatubo

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

Who could ever forget this natural phenomenon?

For a volcano that wreaked havoc in the early 90s, Mt. Pinatubo completely blew us out of our minds when we went there a few weeks ago. It is a breath taking sight!

A short drive from Manila (about an 2 hours to Capas Tarlac) and you’ll be able to see this natural wonder.

Going there is an adventure! We enjoyed the 4×4 drive admist the dunes and sandy riverbeds, going the to the base camp. From there, the trek (by foot) to the summit is not so difficult. A guide will assist in the trek. Supposedly, it will take you about 45 minutes to go up, but it took me and my friends an hour or so, but it was a good exercise. Going down is certainly much easier. Bring lots of water, energy food and a hat is a must.

Upon reaching the summit, you will see Pinatubo’s crater and its lake with its turquoise water that changes from time to time. You will marvel at the serenity and tranquility of the place… like it has never offered such devastation to so many people.

If you want a different adventure, go see Mt. Pinatubo!

Is there more to come?

I’ve read the 7 books in 2 months… you can’t put any of the books down. A good read!

Boracay

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

Its a good place to chill out with friends but if you want peaceful and relaxing vacation, then find a more secluded area as the beach front is very commercialized already. So many shops and so many things happening at the same time. I guess, for some, this is still the place to spend summer vacation. If you don’t like a crowded beach, don’t plan your bora getaway during the lenten season. If you do, good luck!

Camotes Island

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

If you live a fast-paced life and want to take a breather… this is the place to go to. No phone signals, no internet… Just the basics… clean rooms, hot & cold shower, AC, even sattelite TV.

Just you and nature. The beach at Santiago Bay and Garden is simply phenomenal. Long, powder-like sand and clear water awaits you. The sounds of the waves are the only thing you can hear. At 4pm, you’ll be joined by throngs of crablets which is very fascinating. When you look at the horizon, you cannot find the line that separates the blue skies and the water. And the sunset is simply magnificent. Very different from the other beaches or places I’ve been to.

To describe the place in one word: Tranquil.

A review of this place

People are impersonal. Most don’t speak or understand English, and they will shoo you away when you seek for their help. Seriously, for a place that thrives on tourism, the people should be friendly and accommodating.

A tip I have about this place

My friend and I were followed by a suspicious looking man as we were doing our shopping. Important Tip: Hold on to your bags. Make sure its safely secured.

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I watched the 2006 F1 Grand Prix with my friend, and we stayed in KL for 3 nights. It was fun though it was really hot (take it from someone who’s just two and a half hours of plane ride away). They have a good transport system that brings you anywhere in KL and the outskirts, including sepang where they hold the grand prix. The food is just ok, nothing gastronomically fabulous. We ate in one of the restaurants along bukit bintang which turned out to be a mediocre. I think we had a great sample of Malaysian cuisine in one of the street food stalls near berjaya.

Petronas Towers

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

This is a great piece of Architecture. I love buildings and this is a tick list for me. Very massive that you have to lie down on the ground so you could get a decent picture of both towers. To go up to the 42nd floor, you have to be early to get the tickets. My friend and I were there at 9am, but we managed to get the 3pm ticket.

St. Paul's Underground River

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

Going to the underground river is an adventure itself. We came from Puerto Princesa and it took us almost 4 hours (then) to go to the pier where a boat ride took us to the underground river. Upon reaching the island, we trekked to the place where the underground river boats were. There were monkeys roaming freely. The entrance to the underground river is a sight to see with its calm deep blue green water encased by sharp, pointed rocks.

Now, going inside the underground river is another totally different experience. If you’re afraid of the dark and deep water, then this adventure could pose a problem for you. Each boat carries one light only that primarily points to fantastic stalagmites. The boat ride is quite long, more than 30 minutes and if I remember correctly, covers at least 4 kms. On your way back, when you see the opening of the river, you kinda heave a sigh of relief because the ride is almost over. Then again, you are met with breath taking sceneries that make you wanna stay a bit longer.
