Banteay Samre, Siem Reap

Definitely my favorite temple

This is not a favorite among the tourists that’s why when we got there, we were able to freely roam around without the usual hassle of bumping into other people. There were less than 10 people, including my friends and I.

The place is very solemn. According to a guard (who was pleasant enough to take us around), the temple serves as a burial ground, which until know is regularly frequented by locals (there were incense inside). It is also undergoing restoration but the temples are not in ruins, as compared to others… You can still appreciate its angkor wat architecture and artistry.

Banteay Samre is about 30kms from Siem Reap. Take a side trip to discover this splendid temple when you go to the more popular Banteay Srey.

Petronas Tower 2, Petronas Towers

Petronas Towers At Night

Seen the towers both day and night. I think night time is more magical as the lights illuminate the twin towers.

I love buildings and this is a tick list for me.

Angkor Wat, Angkor Archaeological Park

Untitled

Angkor has always been in my tick list of places that I would go to… So, I was very happy that, finally, I was able to check Angkor in my list, a few weeks ago.

While walking towards Angkor Wat, I asked myself, how on earth did they do this? The place is huge. Its mind blowing, really… but then again, so are the other temples, like Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm, etc. Personally, I liked Banteay Samre, a temple about 35+ kilometers from Siem Reap (photo.) Maybe because it is not a major tourist site, so my friends and i were able to enjoy the tranquility of the place.

If you want to explore the temples, I advice you to take it slow… maybe a week in Siem Reap would be enough… otherwise you might feel templed out.
