I was born in Galveston (nearer to Freeport) but we moved to Illinois when I was very young. I think it would be neat to go back to my place of birth. Can anyone suggest any interesting places to go in Galveston?

We didn’t get to spend much time in the actual town of Cimarron, but the two week expedition into the wilderness (we took the Baldy course) was one of the best trips of my life. There’s something about being out in nature, with no cell phones, no computers, no tv and (although it seems horrific now) no internet was great.

I definitely recommend the New Mexican wilderness to anyone who enjoys camping and backpacking.

My aunt lives in Fredericksburg (she works in DC) and we drove out there about 4 years ago in October. While the red clay earth is a bit annoying sometimes (real easy to track in on their lovely new white carpet) the trees were incredibly beautiful. Gold. Red. Orange. Dazzling. The history of the area fascinated us while we were there, so yes, we did all the touristy things.
