I used to go to the lodge for a sardine sandwich lunch in 1972. Cheapest item on the menu, but a wonderful change from village food. It’s hard to believe the Lodge is still there 35 years later.

The first time I went to this place

We were there not long after the fire that came up the back side. We weren’t able to climb the spire for fear that the trail was destabilized by the fire. The main ruins were fantastic.
