I’m a Native of Somaliland from the city of Burco. I’ve last visited in 1987 and was due to return the very week the civil war broke out. I don’t have many relatives that I know living there now. I would like to get to know those that are there, to explore the country, especially the coastal towns of Berbera and Zaila.
It has gone through many changes, most of it good but it’s still developing.

It’s hard to map because it’s not on the map. Tut, tut @ Mr google. But then again, the best of places are never maped.
Somaliland is the break away, independent State of the former Somali Republic. It declared it’s independence in May 1991 after the collapse of the Military regime. Somaliland has it’s own President; Daahir Riyaale Kaahin and an elected government and is actively seeking International Recognition.

I went to visit Syria with not many expectation except that the people I was told were very friendly. I loved everything about it, the people, the narrow streets, the souqs, the art, the history. Amazing! What I loved the most is the tolerance and harmony displayed by Syrians. I recommend to all. Would love to visit again. We stayed in a Hotel in the old, right in the middle of all the action. It was also a conversion of an old style Syrian house. The interiors, gardens were an art form in themselves.
