Hunter Valley

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Good for a weekend away

This place is pretty cool for a weekend away, or even just a day away. Enjoyed the wine tasting immensely, although I was pretty tipsy by lunchtime and couldn’t remember if I tried anything about the wines I sampled. Tip: If you buy chocolates from the chocolate factory, don’t leave them in the car/bus. By the end of the day I had a $30 chocolate puddle.

Niagara Falls

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

Spectacular. Especially enjoyed the Maid of the Mist boat ride and the lights on the falls at night. But apart from the falls, theres not much else to do. If I ever go back, it will be to the Canadian side, that way at least I get to gamble.

New York City

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: I want to move to NYC!!

Loved it, loved it, loved it!! So much to do, so much to see. I feel like I did a LOT while I was there – museums, tours, Broadway, shopping – yet I still haven’t done enough. Which is cool as it gives me more to do when I go back, because I am definitely visiting again! The pain in my feet from walking blocks and blocks each time I went there was well worth it!
Advice: the NY pass is definitely good value if you’re planning on doing the sightseeing thing. I got the one day pass and managed to go to the Empire State building & the skyride inside it, Madame Tussaunds wax museum, American Museum of Natural History, the Circle Line speedboat ride which goes past the Statue of Liberty and is lots of fun, not to mention a good way to rest your feet for half an hour, the Rockefeller Centre and NBC studio tours and Lazer Park. Plus we got discounts when we ate at the Soup Man(Seinfelds inspiration for the Soup Nazi) and Juniors(mmmm…cheesecake!!)

Kanchanaburi

Worth visiting!

A variety of things to do...

Eat at the floating boathouse restaurant near the bridge, the food there was pretty good. And Apples makes really good banana pancakes. The seven level waterfall makes for a pretty good hike, so bring sturdy shoes(my friend did it in Havainas, I don’t know how), and keep going till you reach the top!! We were only planning to climb to the 4th level but we kept on doing the “just one more level” thing. The tiger sanctuary was pretty cool, obviously lacking in safety issues, but its kind of what one expects. The baby cubs were just gorgeous though…we went at the end of the day when they get let out of their cages to play. Very cute!!

Ayutthaya

Worth visiting!

Beautiful ruins

Even if you’ve seen enough temples to last you the rest of your life, the temple ruins here are something else.

Ko Tao

Worth visiting!

Just gorgeous...

We stayed at the Ko Tao resort which was FABULOUS. The pool was gorgeous, the food was divine. And the sun set right across from where we were every night.

Bangkok

Worth visiting!

For a few days at least...

I know some people get turned off by how dirty it can appear, but its worth a few days at least. Check out the markets and MBK shopping centre for some bargains. The Grand Palace and Wat Po are also awesome. And if you need a break from Thai food, try the Pizza Company.

Metro Manila

Worth visiting!

Good shopping...

Well, thats pretty much all I can rate Manila on seeing as thats all I do when I’m there. The SM Malls are huge and seemingly EVERYWHERE. Outside the safety of the mall, it is humid and hot and polluted beyond belief. And traffic is BAD.

Sagada

Worth visiting!

I grew up here...

and I love going back! Although there has been a lot more construction going on lately, there’s still that quality about it – like time has stood still, or slowed down. It offers pine trees, fresh air, rice fields, caves, waterfalls and all the time in the world. Truly relaxing!

New Caledonia

Not worth visiting!

Not there long enough...

but from what I saw it was pretty sedate, not much to do.
