I spent last semester in Tanzania… it was the best time of my life. I went because I was all excited to see the wildlife in the national parks, but the people ended up being my favorite part of Tanzania. Tanzanians as a whole are some of the most welcoming and friendly people I’ve ever encountered.

But for those of you who are mostly interested in the national parks… I went to Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti. Tarangire was my favorite, although Ngorongoro was certainly the most beautiful.

studying abroad!

2 weeks until departure. Because of the nature of the program, I’ve been spending time shopping (ugh) for a hiking backpack, tent, and other related campy things. I’ve also been learning a bit of Swahili via the Pimsleur CDs and getting rabies vaccinations.

Getting scared, but also excited to get out of the Midwest. :) And of course, to have an amazing experience!

Don’t take your kids, they’ll be bored out of their minds. If I went now, I’d probably enjoy it, but I threw a fit when I was forced to go as a child.

The appeal has worn off as I’ve gotten older, but they added a water park this past summer. My girlfriend and I spent much time on the lazy river. :)

I grew up here.

It is an oasis on the interstate. It has a bowling alley, some fast food restaurants, and a pink elephant statue, but other than that, nothing of interest.
