Matt's in the Market

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Great Cod

The cod special is terrific. The cava rose goes nicely with it. Try the wild boar as your appetizer instead of the ahi- the ahi is a little too much like tuna salad, but the boar is succulent! Great atmosphere.

A tip I have about this place

DEFINITELY pay the 6 euros to go up on the roof!! Spectacular. My favorite Duomo in Italy.

Best Pizza in ITALY!

Pizzeria La Pia has the BEST wood-oven pizza of all mankind. Have the version with capers and anchovies. And have some farinata- a chick-pea based pizza-like edible. YUM!

Vernazza

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

Vernazza is the prettiest and quaintest of all the villages. You will love it there! Stay in the top floor room that Martina rents out right down by the harbor- it has a beautiful patio that overlooks the piazza and the water. It’s the pink building on the right in the piazza.

I Heart Beluga Whales.

Even if that was all they had, it would be more than enough.

Death Valley

Worth visiting!

Untitled

One of the best camping trips EVER. You must go during spring, and be sure to go on a non-holiday during the weekdays. Get to the dunes at sunrise and walk on them barefoot and jump off the top of the giant 100+ foot tall dune in the center. Hike up the marble flume. See the badlands. The limestone kilns. Death Valley is my favorite.

M.H. de Young Museum

Designed to emulate light coming through a tree canopy

Everyone says that they love the outside, but are not impressed by the inside. We’ll see about that.

Japanese Tea Garden

Untitled

I just got a beautiful triptych as a housewarming gift that shows a temple, a buddha, and a sakura tree. I would’ve sworn the images could’ve only been taken in Japan, but they were taken in the Tea Garden that is so close by. I’ve been there once when I was probably 10 years old, but have only the vaguest recollection of it- though it is a very positive vague recollection. I’ll be going there with my brother on Feb. 16th. It’s settled.

The Mavericks

Untitled

There are giant swells here- supposedly up to 50 – 60 feet. You can watch people surf there by standing on some cliffs above the ocean. This reminds me that I need to see the surfing movie that they talk about this place in. I forget the name.

Get a Macha Latte! Strange and wonderful. Also, visit the bathroom and go downstairs.
